Below you will find some comments about the The Wilderness Cabin Company's services and products.
" We are very proud to have a Wilderness Cabin product! We highly recommend this company to a new home buyer or builder! The resources are extensive and each department has an ability to problem solve and be creative. Beth was able to interpret our needs and communicate them to The Wilderness Cabin Team of Professionals. She was pleasant, always available, professional, and resourceful. "
" We needed an addition to our small cabin to make it our permanent home. The architects at Wilderness Cabin produced a quality product that blended beautifully with our existing cabin. They researched our city codes and provided us with additional materials in order to be in compliance. This is truly an all inclusive company. The lumber, siding, roofing, windows, and extras provided were all superior grade. We had more than enough materials to complete our home and a small workshop. Wilderness Cabin provided everything they promised and when we encountered difficulties with the shipper they even took care of that! "
" The best part of our Wilderness Cabin experience was that the building process was truly a family effort. The property we purchased is located in Hardy County, West Virginia in an area where my family has lived since the early 1700’s. Our cabin has allowed me to “return to my roots” and maintain close ties with my extended family. My uncles and cousins helped my wife and I with every step of the process, from clearing the land, to putting on the roof and siding. As you can see in this picture, Uncle Joe, Uncle Ronnie, and cousins Dwayne, Tim and Keith were also right by my side when it was time to raise the walls. Building our Chilko II cabin has been an awesome experience that was fun for my entire family! "
" Building our Chilko II cabin was so much fun for my husband and I. I’ll admit we were pretty overwhelmed by all those piles of lumber on delivery day, but everything went smoothly from day one thanks to the great quality of our package. It was a bit like building a giant puzzle, but so much more rewarding! All the pieces fit right in their places, and contractor friends who stopped by as we were building were amazed by the quality of the lumber. 'You don’t see wood like that around here for that price' was a frequent comment. We enjoyed many gorgeous days of building on our West Virginia mountaintop, like this one when my husband was nailing up the last of the shingles on our Chilko II. It is such a great feeling to be able to say 'we built it ourselves'… we love our Wilderness Cabin! "
" Our experience has been more than we could have hoped for. We found the design we needed to match our challenging, narrow, sloped site on Georgian Bay and with a few tweaks we were ready to go. "
" Matt Cummins provided fantastic assistance in walking us through the steps of getting our materials ordered and delivered to the site, even accommodating a 2-week delay in the completion of our foundation. The quality of the package was exactly as promised. I can’t tell you how many visitors, including local contractors that have dropped by the site have commented on the sheer quality of the wood that we received. "
" Matt and his crew were contracted to undertake the framing and build the house to a point where it is fully enclosed. Their workmanship is fantastic, bringing compliments from our local building inspector. The house is everything we hoped for and more. Thanks for all the hard work and the attention to detail. "
" Very best regards
Margrit Olson and Scott Grant "
" I would just like to tell you how happy we are with the cabin we received. We chose the Somerset model, for it's conservative footprint, and use of space for our water access cottage. The materials that were shipped were excellent quality, with not one piece of unusable lumber. We opted for the upgraded windows, and couldn't be happier with them. As a bonus, there is nearly enough left over materials to build a matching bunky. "
" The kit was very complete, and very well packaged. Both very important when barging the materials across the lake. We only had a couple small problems, 2 missing pieces (couriered to us immediately) and two custom rake windows incorrectly manufactured with the wrong angle to the rake. New windows were made and shipped out before the contractors were finished on site. All around, it is a very well designed and put together package, and the professionalism of everyone we dealt with during the ordering process, right through to the post build follow-up has been excellent. I would recommend Wilderness Cabin's products to anyone seriously considering building their own cabin. You won't find a better built cabin for the money. We know, we spent over a year looking prior to buying this one. "

Mike Hooper "
" I have been in construction and architectural engineering for thirty years. My wife and I spent 2 ½ years searching magazines, internet, and log cabin and cedar cabin home shows looking a good product for a huricane zone. We found this at two years and kept looking unsing this as the standard to surpass. We found none. We kept looking at this product and at 2 ½ years realized we wanted this and nothing else would do. We will have our close-in inspection next week. The Wildrness Cabin Company portion of the project is complete and I am certain I cannot have been happier with a different choice. I look forward to completing the interior because completing the exterior was very easy. "

" By the way, once again I would like to express my total satisfaction with the Adams cabin Package / materials, and all of the support after the initial purchase. Keep up the good work! Have a good one! "
" Enjoying our 4th summer...great cabin! "
" I am real impressed with the quality, and the customer service of Wilderness Cabin a.k.a. Greystokes. It has been great working with you. You said it was going to be a difficult cabin to build, but James and I did it. We have never done anything like this before. It passed all of it's inspections, with no problems. "
" Thanks again for all your efforts and quality. "
" A big thanks to you and all people involved at the Wilderness Cabin Company for the most thorough execution of planning, modifying and shipping of materials. My builder was very satisfied with the high quality of the building materials, the completeness as well as the quantities. My recommendations to the Wilderness Cabin Company!! "
" I decided that with all the free time I have (ha ha), I would put together a little website to keep all of my dearest friends & family up to date on our cabin! As most of you know, this project began about 2 1/2 years ago with the idea that it would be 'fun' to build our own house. It was 'fun' 'til we began to deal with the county of Ventura for permits (yuck!). Anyhow, Chris designed the whole cabin in AutoCad, and then we sent off our design to a wonderful company in Canada that I found on the internet called The Wilderness Cabin Company. They had our cabin design engineered for Ventura County and sent us over the blueprints. After a year and a half of soil testing, water testing, and dealing with the wonderful County of Ventura, we got our permits!!! Dealing with such a difficult county was quite an ordeal, but the Wilderness Cabin Company worked with them on nearly a daily basis to get our permits expedited as quickly as possible, they were absolutely wonderful! The day we received news that our permits were issued, we ecstatically arranged shipment of our Cabin. "
" The shipment of the materials to build our cabin arrived by semi truck about 1 week after our permits were issued. We were all amazed at how well everything was packaged, and how nice the materials were. The shipment included basically everything you'd need to build the exterior shell of the cabin (including the doors & decking), they even stained all of the exterior wood with the colors we selected!!! The only materials that we provide are flooring, plumbing, electrical, insulation & drywall. "
" The cabin looks great, as you can see by the pictures. I can't tell you how pleased we are with the product. The lumber package really was very complete and the quality of the wood is superb. The thing that I really can’t believe is the tongue and groove cedar under the eves. That is a great little touch. Again, the T&G cedar under the roof is a great look. I am also very pleased with the quality of the doors and windows. Thanks again. Please feel to you me as a reference. Say a special hello to Walter, he was a big help in getting the plans through the permit process. I couldn’t have done it with out him. "
" Well, we are finally moved in our beautiful Wilderness Cabin. We love our house, and again, thank you for your prompt attention to our requests. As you can see by the enclosed pictures, it is definitely a beautiful home. Strangers going down the road stop by and want to see it! "
" The cabin is located 12 miles south of Prescott, Arizona at the top of Lookout Mountain at 7500 feet. We love the cabin and so does everyone else who owns property on the mountain! I am the first to build on the mountain. The pictures of the cabin in the snow was last January and the snow was 4 feet deep. Four wheel drive and chains were no match, I had to hike over three miles to get up there. "
" We couldn't be happier with the quality of your materials - the builders said they had never worked with wood of such quality, the design and your superb customer assistance. "
" I can't say enough about the quality and professionalism of your company and staff. The material arrived on the exact date and time that your dispatch department said it would. The trailer was unloaded with our equipment in about 2 hours, the packaging was excellent, and nothing was missing!!! The framers had nothing but praise for the quality of the lumber and framing materials. Hats off to all of you at Wilderness Cabin. "
" We had a fantastic experience working with Wilderness Cabin Company. In a mere 10 months, we went from an fledgling idea to a completed home! We were able to avoid numerous trips for supplies because the kit was complete. Your staff was ALWAYS available to answer questions and the answers were ALWAYS right. Thank you all for a wonderful experience. "
" What I liked best about my package was that I didn't have to cut the wood. All I had to do is assemble it. It cut down a lot of time. You all have a great product that takes a lot of work out of building. "
" Needless to say, we are extremely pleased with our cabin and you are right, Robert Smith has been an excellent contractor. As for you guys, what can I say? Wilderness Cabin Co. has exceeded our expectations at every turn! I have to admit that I was suspicious of the quality of the package. Here I sit, 3000 miles away buying a package unseen. I was afraid I would get twisty, knotty, second-rate wood. What I got was incredible !! Beautiful, straight excellent quality materials. Robert even said he thought it was about the best quality materials he has worked with in ten years of building houses. Thanks for all of your help and for your excellent package. You certainly have been a major factor in one of our dreams coming true!! "
" Your company had great customer service. You were the BEST company we worked with in building and finishing our cabin. Thank You! "
" We liked the design, the cabins charm and the fact that it is 2x6 construction. The quality met with our expectations and we would recommend your company to our friends and associates. "
" What we liked best about our cabin is the design, the idea of a kit, the quality of the materials and the great support we got during construction. You can definitely use us as a reference. "
" We are very pleased with the overall quality of the materials in the package. It is very pleasing to work with good material. Thanks for all your help on the construction questions during that phase. I have had lots of positive comments regarding the cabin. Most people out there understand value and the cabin seems to be appreciated for this. Our experience with your company has been very pleasant. Each request for additional information was met promptly. The small issues that came up during construction were handled effectively. We would certainly recommend your product and service to others. "
" I am sitting in our cabin at Big White Ski Resort enjoying a beautiful view of the Monashee Mountains and reflecting back to the last year when we began construction. We have already been through our first ski season and Shari and I continue to be completely happy with the quality and design of our cabin. Our many visitors continually comment on the coziness and practicality of the design. We want to thank you and The Wilderness Cabin Company for the great job you did. It was a great pleasure to work with you on this project and I would not hesitate to recommend the Wilderness Cabin Company to anyone looking for a quality, affordable cabin. "
" We are thrilled with our Wilderness Cabin Co. Cottage! Our dream home-away-from-home was completed on time and on budget exactly the way we had pictured it! The construction is top quality and the folks at Wilderness are all top quality, too. Thanks Glen, Tyler, Chris and Walter, your customer service was excellent!" "
" The best thing was the quality of the wood and the design vastly exceeded local building code standards. My builder commented on how overbuilt the house was. "
" Our fantastic floathouse is floating thanks to all your help. Everyone is admiring it and asking where we got it. You may have had some inquiries. The builders loved the quality of the materials. I am emailing photos via Photoworks company. Don't toss them out with the spam mail. The Shrimp color with red roof looks wonderful. We call it the Crab Shack as there are Dungeness crab in the bay. We have set a new standard for floathouses in Southeast Alaska. It is a great cabin in an amazing location. Jump on a cruise ship in Vancouver and come up and see it!! "
" Building our Chilko II cabin was so much fun for my husband and I. " The best part(s) of working with Wilderness Cabin Company for me were:
I have already recommended Wilderness Cabin Company to several of my friends that were looking into building their own home away from home and I will continue to do so with complete confidence. "
" We are submitting a summer photo of our Adams. The winter shots of our home are already on the website! It looks absolutely enchanting, no matter what the season. "
" The best part about building our Wilderness cabin was seeing our vision come into reality: our unique touches like the cedar shakes and the wide white trim, the porches.....one of them is a wonderful screen porch which runs along the entire back of our home. Watching it all come together was so exciting!"
" Our home sits right in the woods... and with the all natural building products, it has settled itself into nature in a way that creates a feeling of tranquility. This new photo shows the summer woodland landscaping which compliments the fairytale look of our home. Everyone who visits says they feel like they are visiting Hansel and Gretal or the grandmother's house in The Bid Bad Wolfe....the red roof just sets everything off in a whimsical way. Also, our home is solid and classic. It is a small home but has only the most tasteful and unique features inside and out. It is the ideal upnorth Michigan cottage in the woods and we love it! "
" Thank you Wilderness. We are the envy of everyone who visits us. "
" Nearly as interesting as the construction of our Chilko has been the neighborhood reaction to the project. When there were only concrete sonoposts protruding from the ground behind several pallets and crates of building material, neighbors would drive by and barely seem to notice. But one day as I was working on the sub-floor, a man actually stopped and asked if it was the stage for a rock concert! "
" Once all four walls and the porch were up, I noticed that many cars were slowing down as they passed. Then the roof, siding and trim went on and people began stopping. "
" I am happy to report my wife and I have gotten to know so many nice people by chatting across our fence, answering questions about the house and accepting the many complements. Now I wish we'd done this project sooner because its made lots of new friends for us! "
" Here are some exterior shots of our new vacation house at Cove Point, built on the footprint of the old house. The 7 foot (above sea level) flood mark from Hurricane Isabel’s Chesapeake Bay storm surge is located halfway up the crawlspace door, so this house should be safe from everything but a huge tsunami! "
" The foundation walls have engineered flood vents, and all utilities (HVAC, water pump, pipes, and ductwork) are suspended from the first floor beams, at least five feet above the concrete floor. "
" The house is oriented with the chimney side facing northeast, so we get a lot of light in the greatroom early in the morning, which you can see in the first two pictures. The rest were taken in late afternoon sunlight, filtered through the woods. "
" My wife and I are thrilled with the look of the house, even though we had to keep the interior appointments to a minimum (no wood ceiling or fireplace surround, for examples) due to severe budget constraints. Eventually we may be able to add a few extras, and retire here full time for awhile. The materials package from Greystokes was of excellent quality and well packaged. "
" The house is unique, but really blends in well with the environment (mid-Atlantic coastal woodlands/wetlands). Last weekend, I was leaning out a second story window to remove the capillary tube (for shipping), and a bald eagle flew right over my head. We routinely see them fly over, just not so close! Deer are abundant, and we have tree frogs that like to hang out on the sliding glass door and windows. Please let me know if this message gets through ok, and I’ll send another email with some interior pictures."
